BIOGRAPHY
Nicole Scherzinger was born June 29, 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her birth name was Nicole Elikolani Prescovia, but she grew up with her mother and stepfather Gary Scherzinger in Louisville, Kentucky, and Nicole took his surname as her own. She attended the Youth Performing Arts School of duPont Manual High School in Louisville and then attended Wright State University, but Nicole Scherzinger put her studies on hold in 1999 to pursue a career in music.
When asked "What's one thing you'd love to have for the rest of your life?" by Dolly magazine:
"I know this sounds cheesy, but the first thing that comes to mind is world peace. It's always in the back of my head. I mean, what could you say? I want a really hot car, but how far would it take you?"
Nicole Scherzinger's first band experience was as a singer in the grunge-rock band Days of the New. In 2001 she competed in the debut season of the TV show Popstars and earned a position in the newly formed band Eden's Crush. The band recorded the top 5 pop single "Get Over Yourself" and their debut album Popstars also hit the top 10. However, the fame was short-lived and the group disbanded in 2002.
In June, 2003, Nicole Scherzinger joined the burlesque troupe the Pussycat Dolls just as they were preparing to become recording artists. Initially re-named Nicole Kea for the act, Nicole Scherzinger became the primary voice on record for the group and the leader of the group both in the studio and on stage. The Pussycat Dolls have become a smash success with 3 top 10 pop singles and a top 5 album.
Nicole Scherzinger's favorite holiday songs are "O Holy Night" and "Silent Night" sung in Hawaiian.
Nicole Scherzinger has made it clear that she plans to embark on a solo career once promotions for the Pussycat Dolls' first album are complete. She does not intend to record with the group on their second album. She is a featured artist on Diddy's single "Come to Me" and has tentative plans to release a solo album in late 2006.
